Synopsis:
Xena is arrested for murder and, despite Gabrielle's protests, pleads guilty. She is sentenced to life imprisonment on Shark Island - a place from which no one has ever escaped. Once there she has to endure humiliation at the hands of the prison guards. Meanwhile, Gabrielle disguises herself as the prison healer and finds out that the Commandant of the prison is none other than the person whom Xena supposedly killed. Gabrielle teaches her compassion, but the Commandant (Thalassa) finds out about Gabrielle being Xena's friend and she is sentenced to hang. Xena, however, promotes a riot and rescues Gabrielle in the commotion. She also saves Thalassa's life. By doing this, she earns her forgiveness and is set free.

Synopsis:
Xena and Gabrielle meet a paladin who claims she can hear the Djinn and who says she is working towards healing others and doing good. She asks Gabrielle to help her set up a hospice for sick people and Gabrielle is tempted to do this. Xena is suspicious of Najara and her suspicions are confirmed when Najara captures a group of evil slavers and kills them when they will not change their ways. Xena and Najara fight and Xena is badly beaten. However, she manages to fight back and capture Najara who is led away to be put on trial for her crimes.
