Synopsis:
A Gaelic hero has been captured by Caesar and taken to Rome for execution as an example to all those who would oppose Caesar. In return, Xena captures Crassus, one of the Roman triumvirate and makes a deal with Caesar: Crassus for Vercinix. However, Xena does not trust Caesar and so she entrusts Gabrielle with Crassus, intending to switch him for Vercinix. Gabrielle realises this will mean Crassus' death so she tells Crassus she will return his ring to him as proof of his identity. When Vercinix tells her of Crassus' evil crimes though, she changes her mind and Crassus goes to his death in Vercinix's place.
