Synopsis:
Xena meets up with an old friend, Goliath, a giant who once saved her life at the cost of his family. Goliath tells Xena he is working for Dagon, leader of the Philistines, in return for money and information on the whereabouts of Gareth, the giant responsible for his family's slaughter. When Xena and Gabrielle find out that the people whom the Philistines are waging war on are Israelites who just want to live in peace, Xena tries to talk Goliath out of killing innocents. Goliath will not listen so Xena helps the Israelites against him.

When Jonathan, leader of the Israelites is killed in battle, a young Israelite named David agrees to lead his people against Goliath. However, Xena must first get Goliath to remove his helmet as it protects him from being killed. She tricks Goliath and then uses mirrors to cause the sun to heat his helmet. This burns him, forcing him to remove the helmet and leave himself unprotected. David strikes with his sling and Goliath falls to the ground, mortally wounded. In his dying words he admits he was blinded by hatred and Xena tells him that she hopes he will find peace with his family.

Synopsis:
Gabrielle is bitten by the Bacchae, a group of blood-sucking vampires led by the god, Bacchus. Bacchus has also stolen Orpheus' body, as his music is the only thing that will calm the Bacchae. Xena and Joxer set out to rescue Gabrielle and to find Orpheus' body. However, Bacchus can only be killed by another Bacchae so Xena must allow herself to be bitten in order to do this. Gabrielle bites Xena who then turns into a Bacchae and both of them attack Bacchus. They kill him and this causes all his bacchae to turn back into humans, including Xena and Gabrielle.
