As Xena was once engaged to Petracles, who lost interest and dumped her, she warns Gabrielle to stay away from him so she won't get hurt. When they find the treasure, Xena is desperate to find the Titans' Key before the others do as Ambrosia would be lethal in the hands of her unscrupulous companions. When Thersites finds the key first, he realises its significance and, taking Gabrielle hostage, he escapes from Xena to find the Ambrosia which will make him a god if he eats it. Petracles, unexpectedly saves Gabrielle from Thersites and, in the process is killed. Xena mourns him, realising she was wrong not to trust him. She then returns the Ambrosia to the gods before it can do any more damage.
