Zagreas
Zagreas is a warlord who used to be a member of Xena's army. She tricks him into attacking a village where a giant is on the rampage and the giant crushes his entire army. He has a fit and goes after Xena, but he is no match for the warrior princess. See "A Day In The Life".

Zantar
Zantar is the head of a gang of thugs which includes his two brothers (see "If The Shoe Fits"). He has just been released from jail and is planning a raid on Lumeria. However, Xena captures him, foiling his plans. Zantar escapes with Aphrodite's help and manages to steal the crown jewels from King Melos and Queen Mistria.

Joxer stumbles into Zantar and is taken prisoner as "insurance". Luckily for him, Xena turns up, captures Zantar and his men and retrieves the stolen jewels.

Zealot #1
The young zealot who encounters Xena naked as she emerges from the lake (see "Altared States"). After an extremely quick change, Xena emerges clothed from the bushes and attacks the dazed man with a string of fish!

Zehra
A scheming money-maker who finds one of Gabrielle's scrolls and then proceeds to use this to make deals with every scoundrel imaginable (see "The Play's The Thing"). She persuades Gabrielle to turn one of her stories into a play, intending that the play will fail miserably. When she is congratulated by her investors, she begins to worry that something has gone wrong and tries to persuade Gabrielle to change her play back into what it was. Gabrielle changes her play for the opening night and the audience are not amused until Xena arrives and a fight starts. Zehra and Milo try to make their getaway but are stopped by the audience. Zehra tells Xena she has learnt her lesson and will work legitimately from now on.

Zeus
The supreme king of the gods and husband to Hera. He is the father of Ares and Hercules, although he appears to favour Hercules which infuriates his other son no end. Hercules himself feels resentment towards Zeus for not being a true father to him and for abandoning his mother, Alcmene. Zeus has taken many lovers but admits to Hercules that he always had a soft spot for Hercules' mother.

Zeus is mentioned by Gabrielle in "Chariots Of War". He appears in the episode "God-Fearing Child" in which he tries to kill Xena and her unborn child. To prevent this, Hercules is forced to kill his own father.

Zora
Zora is the mother of Icus and Maell and wife of Anteus (see "Altared States"). She tries her best to protect Icus from his brother and the other zealots but is powerless to stop them taking her son. She pleads with Xena to help her and Xena does so by rescuing Zora from the zealots as well as working out that Maell is behind the scheme to sacrifice Icus.

Zoras
A place in Phoenicia. In "Crusader", Najara's men attack Xena and Gabrielle, believing they are on their way to Zoras, a day's ride away.
