Ugly Ruffian
An ugly ruffian who tries to chat up Gabrielle whilst she is waiting for Xena. When she warns him that she is a friend of Xena, the Warrior Princess, he is even more enthusiastic, probably hoping to make up a threesome! See "Chariots Of War".
Ulysses
A Greek hero, who is renowned for being the only man who can string his mighty bow, making him the rightful ruler of Ithaca. Ulysses is married to Penelope, his childhood sweetheart but, believing her to be dead, he falls for Xena in a big way. Ulysses has been fighting the Trojans for the past ten years but, on deciding to return home he is plagued by Poseidon. Xena helps him battle his way home and Ulysses discovers that Penelope is very much alive and has been preventing others from taking his kingdom. Though Ulysses is willing to give up his wife and kingdom for Xena, she refuses him, believing this is the right thing to do. See "Ulysses".
Ulysses' Bow
Only Ulysses could bend and string his bow. It was only by this sign that his wife Penelope recognised him after his twenty year absence. In "Ulysses", it should be noted that when he attempted to string his bow, he had a little help from Xena!!
Underworld
Hades' realm, where the spirits of the dead spend eternity. In order to enter the Underworld, it is necessary to cross the River Styx on Charon's boat.
The Underworld has two sections: one being the Elysian Fields (the abode of good souls) and the other being Tartarus (the abode of evil souls). Some of the 'sights' to be seen there, according to Charon, are the Caves Of Despair and the Hanging Gardens Of Disgusting Diseases. These are (presumably) in the Tartarus section of the Underworld.
Unicorn
In "The Prodigal", Meleager the Mighty begins a tale about a Cyclops and a Unicorn. We didn't get to hear it all so perhaps it was a bit rude!
Upper Scheherazadestan
Home of Prince Morlock (see "Dangerous Prey").
Urchin
The second son of Hagar and Crustacea, Urchin is a boy with spikes on his head (which must make a good night's sleep virtually impossible!). Along with his brother, Flipper, Urchin gets into all kinds of trouble with Gabrielle/Crustacea and, as penance, ends up washing dishes! (see "Married With Fishsticks").
Urn of Apollo
The Urn of Apollo was stolen by the Red Valley Gang who intended to trade it to a group of Silesians in return for gold (see "Forgiven"). Gabrielle says that the urn was believed to 'give peace'. Micah thought it might be worth 1,000 dinars.
