Kaelus
One of the investors in the play that Zehra is directing in "The Play's The Thing". Kaelus is unaware that Zehra is running a scam and that she is doing everything in her power to make sure the play will fail miserably.
Kahina
A desert nomad, Kahina and some of her people are being attacked by a rival tribe when Xena and Gabrielle intervene and run off their attackers (see "Legacy"). Kahina is furious at their interference, until she finds out who they are. Once Xena and Gabrielle have agreed to help unite the warring tribes against the Romans, they are honoured by Kahina's people. However, when Gabrielle inadvertently kills Korah and Xena lies about his death, Kahina is disillusioned and refuses to have anything more to do with them. She is disgusted at Gabrielle's behaviour and shuns her. When the Romans launch their attack, however, the nomads are forced to accept Xena and Gabrielle's help once more.
Kahn, James
Writer of "The Abyss".
Kal
The Roman God of War, who kidnaps Xena (he really does!) in order to use her, in her pure, innocent state, to gain the Chakram of Light (see "Chakram"). Since Ares is also after the Chakram, he and Kal come to blows, giving Xena the opportunity to escape. Kal offers to team up with Ares in order to get the Chakram but once Xena has possession of it, she is forced to kill Kal with it.
Kala Root
Kala Root was used as a painkiller (in flashback) in "Past Imperfect".
Kaleipus
Xena's centaur enemy to whom Xena offered her child, Solan, son of Borias in order to prevent him from becoming a target of her enemies. Kaleipus raises Solan as his own child and is unwilling to let Xena take him away when she comes to claim her son in "Orphan of War". However, Xena has a change of heart and decides not to tell Solan she is his mother.
Later, in 'Maternal Instincts' Xena returns to Kaleipus' village and reassures him that she does not intend to take Solan away from him. However, during Xena's visit, Callisto is released from the lava flow she had been trapped in and she and Hope wreak havoc on the village. Kaleipus is mortally wounded by Hope and when Xena and Gabrielle find him barely alive in the woods, he tries to tell them that it was Hope who attacked him. Xena, however, cannot make out what he is saying and Kaleipus dies soon afterwards.
Kali
Xena takes on this persona in "The Way". She receives help from Krishna and, as a result, defeats Indrajit.
Kaltaka
In "The Price", the Athenian soldiers think this is the war god of the vicious warriors known as The Horde. This is because, when they have encountered dying Horde warriors, they were calling out the name Kaltaka. However, Gabrielle discovers that 'Kaltaka' means 'water' and that the dying were simply asking for a drink of water.
Kami
In "A Friend In Need I", Akemi says they are the powers behind all nature.
Kao
Kao is the cowardly Chinese warlord who kidnapped and enslaved Akemi (see "A Friend In Need I"). Xena offers him 50 gold pieces for Akemi but he refuses so Xena puts the pinch on him and doesn't bother to remove it! As Kao struggles to breathe, Borias mockingly tells him he should have taken the gold.
Kargas
In "The Quill is Mightier", the sisters of Gaea inform Gabrielle that ceremonial weapons sell well in Kargas.
Karina
Karina is the wise woman of the Tretomlecs who are the ancestors of the present-day Northern Amazons (see "Lifeblood"). Unlike the hotheaded and vicious warrior Samsara, Karina accepts Cyane's leadership readily and without question. She explains to Cyane that Samsara's family were killed by their mortal enemies (the Samites) and Samsara was the only survivor. Thus, she is filled with hatred and a lust for revenge.
After the crushing defeat of their enemy, Karina declares Cyane to be the Atma and proclaims that from this day forward their tribe will be known as the Amazons.
Karis
Karis is the wife of King Sisyphus (see "Death in Chains"). She is shocked that her husband has imprisoned Death (Celesta) but at first she goes along with his plan, not wanting to lose her beloved husband. However, her conscience prevails and she decides to defy him. She helps him realise that what he is doing is wrong and, in the end, he listens to Xena and Talus and decides to free Celesta. In a way, Karis is rewarded for this because her husband is allowed to live, at least for the time being.
Katana
This is the sacred sword forged from the purest of ores of the Hakiman temple (see "A Friend In Need I").
Kellos
The registrar at the Athens Academy (see "Athens City Academy Of The Performing Bards"). Kellos is tricked by Gabrielle into believing that she has registered so she is most annoyed when she finds out that Gabrielle has cheated her way into the competition.
Kenji
Kenji is the monk who seeks out Xena (see "A Friend In Need I") after his meeting with Akemi. He tells her that Akemi needs her help to save the town of Higuchi from Yodoshi, the soul eating demon.
Kenji travels with Xena and Gabrielle back to Japan and helps them set their trap for Yodoshi. However, during the fight, Kenji is tragically killed by the soul eater (see "A Friend In Need II").
Keremos
In "Athens City Academy", Keremos is the place where Xena goes to fight the Cyclops whilst Gabrielle goes to the Academy.
Khan
An evil warlord who wants to gain control of Chin (see "Purity" and "Back In The Bottle").
Khindin
Khindin is the future incarnation of Alti. She is a powerful warlord and holds sway over many people. Her adversaries are Arminestra, the mother of peace, who is trying to unite everyone against her and Shakti, a young warrior who fights in Arminestra's name.
In "Between The Lines", Xena and Gabrielle are transported into their future incarnations in order to fight Alti and prevent her from coming back into the present world. Khindin/Alti is delighted to find that Arminestra is Xena, physically weak but spiritually powerful. She tries to destroy Arminestra/Xena but Xena draws her into her own time and she is defeated there by the Mendhi.
Khrafstar
In "The Deliverer" Khrafstar is taken prisoner by the Romans but Xena frees him and then accompanies him to Brittania with the intention of confronting Caesar. Khrafstar tricks Gabrielle into thinking that his god, Dahak is a god of peace and love. When Dahak's temple is reclaimed, Gabrielle accompanies Khrafstar and the rest of Dahak's followers and joins in the ritual celebrations. However, she finds herself part of a sacrificial ritual in which she kills someone, believing she is saving Khrafstar's life, whereas Khrafstar had planned this incident all along.
Killer Of Ghosts
The Killer of Ghosts is Harukata (see "A Friend In Need I" and "A Friend In Need II"). His job is to speed souls on their way before they are devoured by Yodoshi, the Lord of the Dark Land.
King Barus
The father of Princess Ileandra, King Barus is pleased with the match between his daughter and Prince Sarpedon (see "For Him The Bell Tolls"). However, when King Barus finds out that King Lynaeus has captured his daughter, he travels to Lynaeus' kingdom to find out why. Although relieved to find his daughter safe and well, he appears totally confused about the whole situation!
King Gregor
King Gregor is the misguided king who has been led to believe (by his evil minister, Nemos) that he is destined to be overthrown by a boy child (see "Cradle Of Hope"). Xena and Gabrielle are horrified that someone could be so evil, so both are surprised to find that the king is a good man who is in great pain after the recent death of his beloved wife and child. In order to put things right, Xena convinces the king that the child in question will indeed take his throne, but as his son not his conqueror!
King Lias
Father of Princess Diana, King Lias asks Xena for her help when his daughter's life is in danger (see "Warrior, Princess"). Xena switches roles with Diana (who bears an uncanny resemblance to Xena) and thwarts the assassins.
In "Warrior, Princess, Tramp", King Lias believes he is dying so Princess Diana sends for Xena. However, by the time Xena arrives, an imposter, Meg has taken Diana's place and her 'employer', the evil Agis is plotting to murder the king. Although frail and weak, the king manages to recover from his illness and escape being murdered, thanks to Meg's intervention.
King Lynaeus
King Lynaeus is the proud father of Prince Sarpedon and is looking forward to his son's marriage to Princess Ileandra as it will unite their two kingdoms (see "For Him The Bell Tolls"). He is furious when he finds out that Ileandra has run off with Joxer, leaving his son with a broken heart. He captures Joxer and Ileandra and prepares to have Joxer executed. However, Joxer escapes and he and the king engage in some fancy swordplay. Thankfully, soon afterwards the spell on Joxer is broken and everything returns to normal.
King Melos
The ruler of the kingdom of Lumeria, Melos is husband to Queen Mistria and the father of Alesia (see "If The Shoe Fits"). Alesia's mother is dead and the king has married again but Alesia hates her new stepmother and refuses to accept her.
When Alesia runs away, the king is distraught and is very relieved when Xena brings Alesia home. However, he informs Xena that the crown jewels have been stolen by Zantar and his men. Xena retrieves the jewels and Alesia and Mistria come to an understanding.
King Menelaus
Helen of Troy's Greek husband who has been fighting the Trojans for ten long years in an attempt to reclaim his wife (see "Beware Greeks Bearing Gifts").
King Of Hell
Alternative name for Mephistopheles, given by Eve when summoning him from Hell (see "The Haunting Of Amphipolis").
King Of Thieves
Autolycus' hard-earned title. Apparently, Autolycus became a thief in order to avenge the murder of his brother by the merchant, Tarsus. As the story goes, he completely ruined Tarsus by stealing all his possessions and soon became known as the "King Of Thieves". When the statue of Pax is stolen, however, Autolycus admits that he did not steal it but must find out who did it and how (see "Vanishing Act"). Otherwise, he will no longer be able to claim the title of King Of Thieves.
King Saul
Leader of the Israelites, King Saul is mortified when his son, Jonathan is killed in the battle against the Philistines (see "Giant Killer").
King Silvas
King Silvas is a bitter man after losing his wife thirty years ago (see "A Solstice Carol"). He has banned the Solstice celebrations and punishes any who fail to pay their taxes, even if this includes an orphanage. Xena pays the king a visit, in the guises of Clotho and Lachesis, representing the past and present. When Melana (the woman who runs the orphanage) appears to the king, he believes it is Atropos who has come to claim him and, full of fear, he decides to change his ways. When Melana reveals herself to be his beloved queen, he begs her forgiveness and the couple are reunited.
Kirilus
The leader of an army whom Ares tricks into believing that Xena is intent on stealing his army from him (see "Ties That Bind"). Ares continuously taunts Kirilus, telling him that is no match for the warrior princess. Angered, Kirilus plays into Ares' hands and loses his army to Xena.
Klonig
Klonig is a brigand who chases and kills Lycus, Xena's friend, in order to obtain one of the clues to the Cimmerian treasure (see "A Fistful Of Dinars").
Kolonus
The kingdom of Agranon's father in "The Path Not Taken". Agranon was to marry Jana, from Beocia, thus uniting the two kingdoms.
Kor
The Samite cannibal who saves Cyane's life in "Lifeblood". Kor and Cyane immediately take a shine to each other and Cyane returns the favour by saving Kor's life twice; first from the wrath of Samsara and later from his own father. Subsequently, she asks him to lead his tribe by finding a more peaceful way.
Korah
Korah was the young son of a desert nomad. After seeing Gabrielle fight, he was full of admiration for her and begged her to teach him to be a great warrior. Gabrielle reluctantly agreed, on the condition he used the weapons for defence only.
Korah's father sends his son to find Xena and Gabrielle during a heavy sandstorm to give them an important message. Unfortunately, Gabrielle sees a figure about to attack Xena with a knife and, acting on instinct, stabs the attacker. When she realises the figure was Korah and that it was a scroll he was holding, she is inconsolable and wants to be punished. She continues to have nightmares about Korah for some time afterwards.
Koulos
Lord Koulos is King Xerxes' Minister of Security (see "The Black Wolf"). He takes an immediate dislike to Xena and is determined to prove to his king that she is a spy. He also seeks revenge for his humiliation in the marketplace where Xena makes him a laughing stock in front of his men. When Koulos' suspicions about Xena are shown to be correct, it is too late and, presumably, Koulos is seeing a lot more of the inside of Xerxes' prison!
Kretchmer, John T.
Director for "The Prodigal" and "A Solstice Carol".
Krishna
The supreme Hindu deity and an Avatar of Vishnu, Krishna appears before Xena in "The Way" and seems to be more amused than annoyed at her irreverance. He encourages her to follow the 'Way of the Warrior' and tells her not to be afraid to fight in a just cause. This is the closest that Xena has come to finding religion and even she seems to show a grudging respect for this deity.
Hanuman tells Xena that Krishna is "The supreme personality of the godhood."
Krykus
A warlord who plans to start a war between the Centaurs and Amazons (see "Hooves and Harlots") in order to take their land following the slaughter. He arranges for an Amazon to be shot and killed by a Centaur arrow, thus ensuring the blame will be put on the Centaurs for this and knowing the Amazons will seek revenge. Xena manages to prevent the war by proving to Queen Melosa (the Amazon queen) that Krykus was responsible for the death of her sister. Melosa, although given the opportunity to finish Krykus, decides to let him live so he can be brought to trial for his crimes against both the Amazons and Centaurs.
Kryton
An evil warlord, responsible for the slaughter of the temple acolytes in "The Convert". During a fight between Kryton's thugs and Xena, Joxer accidentally stabs and kills Kryton. Once Joxer finds out that Kryton has a son, he seeks him out to tell him the bad news. However, Kryton's son (Arman) has been led to believe that his father is good and fights for justice so Joxer cannot bring himself to destroy the boy's image of his father. Eventually though, Arman finds out for himself that his father was never what he thought he was.
Kurtzman, Alex
Teleplay for "God-Fearing Child" (Co).
